reduce a decree
In Scotland, the recall of a decree. The difference between reponing a decree and having it reduced, appears to be, that on reponing, the pursuer in the original process, must show that the decree was well founded; but when it is not reponed, the defender must show that the decree was ill founded. In both instances, the proceeding to effect the object is the same, by a libel or claim founded upon the original suit and seeking to invalidate its effect.
