professional corporation
A corporation formed for the purpose of practicing a profession. 18 Am J2d Corp §§ 31, 32. As a general rule a corporation cannot lawfully engage in the practice of law, or in the practice of medicine, surgery, or dentistry. Some statutes, however, permit persons engaged in other professions to form corporations or associations for the practice of their professions. 19 Am J2d Corp § 1052.
