premeditate

premeditate
To meditate in advance of action; to form a clear intent. For example, a robber with a dirk or pistol turns a corner and meets a bank messenger with a roll of bills. In a moment he determines to get it. In the next moment he shoots or stabs the messenger dead, takes the package and flees. His malice was deliberately premeditated though it occupied but a few seconds. Commonwealth v Tucker, 189 Mass 457, 76 NE 127.
