pawnbroker
A person whose business or occupation it is to take or receive, by way of pledge or pawn, any goods, wares, merchandise, or other kind of personal property, as security for the repayment of money lent thereon. 40 Am J1st Pawnb § 2. A person who keeps a shop for the purchase or sale of goods, and takes goods by way of security for money advanced thereon. Levinson v Boas, 150 Cal 185, 88 P 825.
