morgue

morgue
A place where the bodies of unidentified dead persons are kept and exposed to view for the purpose of identification or that they may be claimed by their friends. Koebler v Pennewell, 75 Ohio St 278, 288. Also the place where the body of a person whose death raises a suspicion of murder or foul play is kept pending an inquest.
