Land Department
A federal authority consisting of the General Land Office with the Secretary of the Interior at its head, vested by statute with substantially exclusive jurisdiction to determine, in the first instance, all questions of fact respecting the acquisition, disposition, and control of the public lands, so long as the title thereto remains in the United States. 42 Am J1st Pub L § 57. A comparable agency of state government.
