justicies
A special writ by which the sheriff of the county was empowered for the sake of dispatch, to sit in the county court of his county and try causes. Under this writ, the sheriff could take cognizance of many real actions and all personal actions, to any amount, which without the writ would be tried at Westminster. See 3 Bl Comm 36.
