advocati fisci

advocati fisci
Fiscal advocates under the civil law. These advocates of the revenue somewhat resembled the king's counsel in England and could not be employed in any cause against the sovereign without special license, nor could they be employed or concerned in any private suits between subject and subject. See 3 Bl Comm 27.
