equitable jointure
The satisfaction of a wife's right to dower made by a settlement before marriage, enforceable in equity where it consists of a competent livelihood to take effect upon the husband's death and to continue at least for the life of the wife, and was accepted by her in lieu of, or as the equivalent of, dower. 25 Am J2d Dow § 114.
