The exhibition or depositing by a ship's officer of the papers required by law, at the customhouse, or the giving of information to customs authorities with respect to the ship's cargo, for the purpose of securing permission to land or to discharge such cargo. 48 Am J1st Ship § 19. A written statement by the consignee of imported merchandise or his agent which gives such facts in regard to the importation as is required for the purpose of assessing duties and of securing a proper examination, inspection, appraisement, and liquidation. 21 Am J2d Cust D § 75. The listing by a person entering the United States of merchandise or other articles brought into the country by him. 21 Am J2d Cust D § 74. For the purposes of tariff schedules, the term "entered" means entered, or withdrawn from warehouse, for consumption in the customs territory of the United States; the term "entered for consumption" does not include withdrawals from warehouse for consumption. 21 Am J2d Cust D § 33.
