Ei incumbit probatio, qui dicit, non qui negat; cum per rerum naturam factum, negantis probatio nulla sit

The proof is incumbent upon him who asserts, not on him who denies; since in the nature of things there can be no proof of a negative. See 3 Bl Comm 366.
