Interest which is awarded by way of damages in any case where it is a matter within the discretion of the court to award interest or to refuse to do so. Redfield v Ystalyfera Iron Co. 110 US 174, 28 L Ed 109, 3 S Ct 208. A discretionary rate of interest allowed as damages. 22 Am J2d Damg § 182.
