A term in the law of evidence for books admitted in evidence, subject to authentication, as publications containing statements of ascertained scientific facts rather than of opinions, or which, by long use in the practical affairs of life, have come to be accepted as standard and unvarying authority in determining the acts of persons who use them, eg. mortality tables, almanacs, tables of weights and measures, and similar compilations. 29 Am J2d Ev § 889.
