unsound memory

unsound memory
An imperfect memory. A memory which has failed in situations where there should have been a recollection. "That men may and do have what is denominated unsound memories, although otherwise of sound mind, is a matter of common knowledge. It is most generally observable in persons of old age, who have lost the power to remember past events; but no one would class them as insane persons. That such a person might do an act and be perfectly conscious of it, and of its moral and legal effect, and yet forget it, is not open to dispute." State v Coyne, 214 Mo 344, 114 SW 8.
