United States Marshal

United States Marshal
A ministerial officer through whom the commands of the Judicial Department of the United States must be executed, although belonging to the executive department of the government. Re Neagle, 135 US 1, 34 L Ed 55, 10 S Ct 658. Marshals are mere ministers of the law to execute the orders of the Federal courts, with no authority in their official characters to do any act that shall expressly or impliedly bind anyone by warranty. If a marshal steps out of his official duty and does what the law has given him no authority to do, he is usually personally liable to the injured party.
