privy verdict

privy verdict
A verdict delivered to the judge out of court, relieving the jury from their confinement in case of agreement after the judge has adjourned court, to be affirmed by an oral verdict given publicly in court upon resumption of the session. 53 Am J1st Tr § 1010.
