open shop
A place of employment in which union and nonunion men are employed without discrimination. 31 Am J Rev ed Lab § 95. A plan or policy of employers of labor the basic requirement of which is that there should be no discrimination for or against an employee on account of his affiliation or nonaffiliation with a labor union, except that at least one nonunion man in each craft should be employed on each particular job as an evidence of good faith.
