apex of vein

apex of vein
A mining-law term for the uppermost edge of the vein, or the course thereof, in place, at or near the surface of the earth. This edge or apex is, of course, irregular. It may be higher at one place within the boundaries than it is at another; but mere elevation of the upper edge of the vein at different points within the location is of no moment. Anno: I ALR 418.
