indefinite contract
A term appearing in some teachers' tenure statutes; the right of a permanent teacher upon the expiration of his or her contract, such being a protected contractual right entitling the teacher to a succession of definite contracts having terms in accord with and meeting the requirements of other statutes governing teachers' contracts.
