execution against the person
A writ or process for the enforcement of a judgment, usually a judgment of a particular nature in reference to the obligation adjudicated, by arresting and detaining the judgment debtor until he be legally discharged. 30 Am J2d Exec § 865. A form of execution well known at common law and effected by the writ of capias ad satisfaciendum, which was directed to the sheriff or coroner, and commanded him to take the person therein named and him safely keep so that he might have the body in court on the return day of the writ, to satisfy the party who had recovered judgment against him. 30 Am J2d Exec § 873.
